Lois Weyandt

Lois Elizabeth Schingman Weyandt, 92 of Hempfield Township, died on January 14, 2021.

She was born September 7, 1928 in Jeannette. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Florence Lewis Schlingman of Norvelt.

She was a member of the Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, Tent 56, Pleasant Unity President, Patriot Instructor, Historical Society of Westmoreland Co. Braddock Trail Chapter D.A.R. severed as Chaplain, Historian, Indian Chairman and of the Daughters of the American Colonists. She was a descendant of Lewis and Clark and Ed Doty of the Mayflower. She was a charter member of the DeHaven Society and member of Hurst High School Reunion '46 committee and Chairman of the Annual Original Homesteaders Annual picnic. Prior to 2014, she served as Deacon Sunday School Teacher, and Elder at First Reformed United Church of Christ then transferred her church membership to the Maplewood Presbyterian Church, Greensburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lawrence in 2010; her son, Richard in 1995 and sister, Patricia Laposky in 2013.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Sharon E. Burns and husband, William Burns; granddaughter, Melissa E. Burns; great-grandsons, Gracin Lawrence and Haydin Kieth; sisters, Jane Thomas (the late Kenneth), Jean Rowe (the late, Wayne), and Ruth Knaus (Henry); and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 10am to 12pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg. Everyone is asked to wear masks and social distance. Services will be private and a live stream of her service will be available on Tuesday at 12pm by visiting the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home’s Facebook page.
