Zigmund Barton

December 22, 1916 — July 14, 2017

Zigmund “Ziggy” Barton, 100, of Greensburg, died Friday July 14, 2017 at his home.  He was born in Westmoreland City on December 22, 1916, a son of the late Stanley and Wanda Barton.  He was a proud veteran and served with the Navy during WWII.  After he was discharged from the Navy he was the owner of Barton Tea and Coffee Company, Jeannette. Over the years he owned and operated many area businesses including Barton Amusements, Jim Dandy Restaurant, North Versailles, Norwin Diner and Norwin Tire, both of North Huntingdon, Suburban Acres Mobile Home Park, Greensburg, Hempfield Highlands Mobile Home Park, Jeannette, Clearview Restaurant, Latrobe, Jim Dandy Broasted Chicken, Jeannette and currently Norwin Motors where he was still working.  Ziggy enjoyed music, especially polkas and played in the Jeannette Community Band.  He loved visiting Florida and being in the sun and on the beach.  He was a man that truly lived life to the fullest.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Lucy Erdman and Helen Barton Fox and an infant brother;  an infant son; 2 daughters, Linda Marie Renchko and Shirley Kay Barton; a son, Alan Barton; granddaughter, Rachel Parker.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Eileen Clugsten Barton; 2 daughters, Carol Ann Barton of Ligonier and Joyce Diane Barton of Melbourne Beach, Florida; step-children Dwayne E. Clemens (Nila) of New Stanton, Michael D. Clemens (Kim) of Irwin, Julie M. Sphon (Chip) of Greensburg and Dean R. Clemens (Donna) of Greensburg; 8 grandchildren, Mark, Jr. and Michelle Adams, Patrick Ervin, Charles McFarlane, Nina, Mia, and Leah Pivirotto and Ryan Parker; 4 step-grandchildren, Eric and Alaina Sphon and Claudia and Colton Clemens; 7 great grandchildren; also, nieces and nephews.  Family and friends will be received on Monday from Noon until the hour of service at 2 PM at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg.  Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
