William T. “Bill” Walthour, 91, of Oldsmar, Florida, formerly of Greensburg, died, Saturday, October 19, 2024. He was born on September 13, 1933, in Reynoldsville, Jefferson County, PA, a son of the late William E. Walthour and Ethel Randall Walthour. Shortly after his birth, his mother died, and his father and he returned to Greensburg. He was then raised by his father and stepmother, Gertrude Becker Walthour. They lived on West Otterman Street in the same house his grandfather built in 1895. Three generations of Walthours lived there until 2020 when it was sold. Bill graduated from Greensburg High School in 1951, Northwestern University and Kent State University, with a master’s in mathematics. He taught in Fox Chapel and retired from Gateway School District. He and his wife, Thelma Leone Walthour, enjoyed many years traveling in their Airstream and going to many festivals and historical sites in the Eastern United States. They were married for 55 years before Thelma’s death in 2023. Since then, he resided in Trinity Place, an assisted living facility in Florida, where he enjoyed going on day trips and to restaurants in the area. Bill is survived by nieces, nephews and many friends. He was cremated in Florida and according to his wishes, he will be laid to rest privately next to his wife in Unity Cemetery, Latrobe, PA.
