William Leo Rumshock

William Leo Rumshock, 79, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was known affectionately as Bill. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, selflessness, resilience, and charismatic spirit. He was a man of determination, strength, honesty, and love. His greatest pride was his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy L. Shrum Rumshock, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Their enduring marriage was an example of love, commitment, and devotion.

He graduated from Sewickley Area High School in Herminie, Pennsylvania. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army for three years. He enlisted voluntarily in 1966 and was stationed at Fort Benning, GA; Fort Campbell, KY; and Fort Bragg, NC. From November 1967 through December 1968, Bill served in the Vietnam War as a member of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, serving as both a medic and a paratrooper. During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, an honor that reflected the courage, dedication, and selflessness he carried throughout his life. Bill retired from D & M Contracting. He found great joy in the outdoors, creating memories hunting, fishing, and traveling. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends. These experiences created many of the memories that those closest to him will carry with them forever. Bill was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg, the S.N.P.J., and the VFW Post 33.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Mathew Rumshock and Myrna Ruby Gaus, and his younger brother, Larry Jay Rumshock.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy L. Shrum Rumshock; his two daughters, Stacey L. Amandola (Anthony) and Megan L. McFarland (John); his sister, Bertha Whetsel (William); his grandchildren, Mathew J. Rumshock (Taylor), Marcia A. Amandola, and John H. McFarland III (Trey); and his two great-granddaughters, Brystol A. and Sutton M. Rumshock.

Bill leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, love, and lessons that will continue to live on through his family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love he gave and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. As he would say, “God bless yinz”.
