W. Logan Dickerson, 98 of Greensburg, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at his residence. He was born November 27, 1927 in Altoona, the son of the late Lenna Mae and William Perry Dickerson. Logan, an accomplished entrepreneur and businessman, founded several thriving construction, agricultural, and food industry enterprises over his career.
Growing up in Pennsylvania, Logan attended Kiski Prep School and later Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) where he earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering. Logan got a reserve commission in the Civil Engineering Corps of the Navy during the Korean War but was never called to active duty. He joined his father who was a small bridge builder in 1948 and grew the business. He became owner, president and general manager of W.P. Dickerson and Son Inc., a highway bridge construction company for 47 years. In this capacity, he built more bridges in Pennsylvania than any other individual including the highest bridge on the Northeast extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Scranton. Logan was a pioneer in the prestressed concrete industry. From 1956 to 1977, he owned and operated 2 prestressed concrete plants that produced structural members for various bridges and buildings including stadiums, parking garages, schools, and high-rise apartments.
In 1970, Logan purchased a farm near Greensburg and named it Royal Charolais Farm which he later changed to Lindwood Farm. From 1970 to 1991, they bred polled purebred Charolais cattle and had one of the top recognized herds in North America. In 1991 he changed from cattle to ostriches and established Protos Inc., to produce OSTRIM® #1Sports Meat Snack that is still sold to various health food stores, fitness centers, and gyms. Under the Lindwood Farm name, he started a standardbred horse breeding and harness horse racing operation in 1978 which continues to this day.
After retiring from bridge building in 1995, Logan began the development of Lindwood, a development of single-family homes. Logan was an avid horseback rider. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and they visited many countries and 6 continents. His other interests included tennis, squash, and boating. In December of 1949 he married Ann Watson of Uniontown. She became his constant companion and partner. Ann and Logan were happily married 65 years before her passing in 2015. Logan believed all his and his wife's accomplishments paled in comparison to their only daughter, Linda. Linda was diagnosed with Werdnig's Hoffman Syndrome and accomplished so many things before her unexpected passing in 2020.
A celebration to honor Logan's life is being planned and will be held at the family farm in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association or The Standardbred Retirement Foundation.
