Tina A. (Silvis) Peter, 66, of Murrysville, passed away at home on September 2,2023 surrounded by her family and friends. Born September 10, 1956 in Greensburg, she was the daughter of Joan A. and William H. Silvis. She graduated from Hempfield Area High School and Business Careers Institute, followed by a rewarding career in banking. Tina’s banking career spanned 35 years working for financial institutions including Greensburg Savings, Equibank, and Fed One Bank (now United Bank.) As Senior Vice President of Lending for Fed One Bank, Tina served as Chairwoman of the bank’s Credit Committee, and was a member of the Asset and Liability Commitment and CRA Committee. She retired as a Senior Vice President of the Lending Division of United Bank. She attended Westmoreland Community College, The Institute of Financial Education and the American Institute of Banking. Tina was an active member in community affairs and was a member of the Grant Review Committee for West Virginia Education Fund, Executive member of the Partners in Education, and Director of the Committee Homebuyers Institute Program (CHIP).
Tina enjoyed life with her husband living in the Philadelphia area after retirement and eventually moved back to the Pittsburgh area closer to family. They enjoyed a home in The Villages, Florida in the winter months playing lots of golf with good friends. Family and friends were very important in her life and giving to everyone always made her smile.
Tina is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Eric Peter, her mother Joan Silvis, and her brother Tim Silvis. She is survived by her father, Bill Silvis of Delmont, PA, her three sisters, Toni Kerila of Little River, SC, Teri (Gary) Moidel of Delmont, PA and Tami (Brad) Herrington of Greensburg, PA and her brother, Todd Silvis of Latrobe, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. All of whom held a special place in her heart.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on will be Friday, September 8,2023 from 10 to 11 am at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg. A memorial service for Tina will follow at 11 am in the funeral home. Flowers are welcome. Peter Center which will house and support special needs animals; University of Pittsburgh for the Tina A. and Eric A. Family Endowed Research Fund, 5150 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232; UPMC, Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232 directed to the Tina A. Peter and Eric A.
