Robert “Rob” Garland, 58, passed away November 19, 2025. He was born in Greensburg, PA, the son of the late Robert W. Garland and Dorothy K. Garland. The youngest of six children, Rob attended Greensburg Central Catholic high school, and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. He had degrees in Business, Behavioral Psychology, and Economics. He continued his education there and earned JD and MBA degrees from University of Pittsburgh School of Law and Katz School of Business. Rob joined the Pennsylvania Bar Association in 1993. A talented business man, he spent his career managing distressed companies and turning them into successful organizations. He was also an adjunct professor of finance at the Katz School of Business, and the CEO, President and CFO, and board member of numerous thriving companies.
Rob was always up for a hearty discussion that often included good-natured banter about anything from hunting and fishing, to nutrition or politics, philosophy, or spirituality. Rob had a quick wit with a fair dose of snarkiness and cynicism, but also had a kind heart. He generously and enthusiastically supported local and international charities to help and feed people in need, and to support medical research and care for children.
Rob was a loving father to his sons Robert William Garland II (28) and Thomas Alexander Garland (25), who will miss him dearly. Together they enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and vacations at the beach. His love for his boys was apparent any time he effusively shared what they were up to with pride and affection.
In addition to his sons, Rob is survived by his siblings Greg Garland, Summer Friedlander, Colleen Robinson, Tim Garland, Holly Garland and his niece and many nephews.
Rest in peace.
