Richard Rhodes

Richard G. “Dick” Rhodes, 77 of Pittsburgh, passed away, Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in St. Clair Memorial Hospital, Pittsburgh.  He was born September 11, 1939 in Greensburg a son of the late Howard A. and Eleanor E. (Wengert) Rhodes.

Dick was the owner of Rhodes Insurance Agency, Pittsburgh with a career spanning 35+ years with Nationwide Insurance.  He was a graduate of Greensburg Salem High School Class of 1957, attended Bethany College and a longtime member of the First Christian Church, Greensburg. He sang in several church choirs, was the past president of the Greensburg Jaycee’s, and enjoyed volunteering his time with Meals on Wheels.  Dick was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and treasured attending games with his wife and family or watching from the comfort of his favorite chair.  Beyond his family, his hobbies included travel, snow skiing and watching his grandchildren play hockey, softball, lacrosse and swim.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Rhodes.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sandra (Goulding) Rhodes; three children, Bonnie (Joe) Joyce; Rick (Sherri) Rhodes and Scott (Debbie) Rhodes; ten grandchildren, Kaitlyn Joyce; Ryan Joyce; Tyler Rhodes; Kennedy Rhodes; Alex Rhodes; Bauer Rhodes; Kris (Diane) Dempsey; Justin (Traci) Dempsey; Ally Musgrave and Max Musgrave; six great-grandchildren, Jackson, Grace, Clara, Delaney, Taryn and Quinn Dempsey; his grand doggies, Taffy, Jack Frost, Riley, Charles and Ollie; a sister, Gladys Chmiel; a brother, Bob (Debbie) Rhodes; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 1 to 6 pm in the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 N.
