Raymond Oscar Addis, 67, of Greensburg, PA, died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at the UPMC Family Hospice Center in Lawrenceville, PA on January 5, 2023. Ray is survived by his mother, Hazel (Maust) Addis; wife, Denise (Chamberlain) Addis; sons, Matthew Addis and Michael Addis; daughter-in laws, Genevra Addis and Jessica Addis; and grandchildren, Sophie Addis and Emma Addis. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Raymond L. Addis. Ray was born May 11, 1955, in Brownsville, PA. He graduated in 1973 from Hempfield Area High School. Ray attended multiple universities, obtaining a bachelor’s degrees in information sciences, an associate degree in engineering, and a masters of business administration. On June 19, 1982, Ray and Denise were married. Denise was the love of his life and they were happily married for over forty years.
Ray loved fishing, hiking, shooting, biking and golfing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Ray served as Scout Master for his sons’ Boy Scout troop and also as a coach for many of his sons’ baseball, basketball, and soccer teams throughout their childhoods. Ray also loved traveling to and exploring America’s national parks, with many his fondest memories taking place at Yellowstone National Park.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 1 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 300 South Main Street, Greensburg. Raymond’s memorial service will be live streamed via the First Presbyterian Church Facebook page. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation to Yellowstone Forever (yellowstone.org).
