Patricia (Pat) Louise Thornton, 80, died peacefully on Friday September 5th, 2025, at her home in York PA. Pat was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend to those who knew her. She was born on Oct 30, 1944, in Windber PA, daughter of the late John and Olga Roberts. Pat spent most of her working life as an operating room nurse, with many of those at Westmoreland Hospital. She graduated from West Penn Hospital’s School ofNursing and remained friends with two of her roommates her entire life. Pat and her husband Jim traveled around the globe to many different countries and continents and spent many wintersin Hawaii. Pat and Jim were married for 55 years prior to his death in 2021. She enjoyed hosting family and friends and loved it when her favorite people were together. She welcomed friends of her children and grandchildren and “Mrs. T” paid special attention to ensure they felt at home at her house. Her kindness was felt by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Catherine (Cassie) Smith. She is survived by her sons J.R. Thornton and his wife Ellie, John Thornton and his wife Anna; grandchildren Lauren, Hannah, Courtney (Byrum) and husband Tyler, Steven, Joelle, and Jacob; brother-in-law Charles Smith; nieces and nephew Jonna, Jennifer, Tauni, Tatum, Monica, and Anthony.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 12th from 5 to 7 p.m., and Saturday September 13th from 9 to 10 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 10 a.m. at KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St, Greensburg PA.
