Marjorie Ann Nelson

Marjorie Ann Nelson, 86, of Wayne, PA, formerly of Youngwood and Mt. Pleasant, PA, died Wednesday, September 3, 2025. She was born on January 10, 1939, in Indiana, PA, daughter of the late Blair Wendel Turley and Marie Miller Turley.

Marjorie was a member of Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, where she was an active volunteer for many years. She was a 1956 graduate of Ramsay High School in Mt. Pleasant and a 1961 graduate of IUP, formerly Indiana State Teachers’ College. She was a member of the Tri Sigma Sorority. She earned her Master of Education from California State College, PA. Marjorie was a dedicated and passionate elementary and junior high school teacher for 35 years. Prior to her retirement, and for much of her career, she was on the staff of Hempfield Area School District, ending her teaching vocation at Stanwood Middle School.

Marjorie enjoyed traveling the world and worked as a tour leader for Scholastica. She was an avid Steelers fan. Margie, as she was called by her friends, was a sales representative for Longaberger Baskets for many years and accumulated quite a collection.

Margie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a woman of strong faith and conviction.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William Allen Nelson and her daughter in law, Christine Nelson (Naylor).

Marjorie is survived by her sons, Curtis Nelson (Kerry), and Christopher Nelson (Heather); her brother, Randall Turley; her grandchildren, Matthew, Timothy, Megan, Adam, Katie, and Will Nelson.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, Sept. 12 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am in Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, 671 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Greensburg. The service will be officiated by Pastor Andrew Fitch. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
