Lam V. Duong

Lam Van Duong was born on December 6, 2006, in Ho Chi Mihn City, Vietnam. He joined our family the following October. He is survived by his mother and father (Beth Tiedemann and Reid Crosby), brothers Ethan and Jesse Crosby, maternal grandmother Nancy Tiedemann, and paternal grandmother Janice Oberholtzer as well. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers Albert Tiedemann, Robert Crosby, and Ray Oberholtzer. He enjoyed annual summer vacations with his family, cousins Eli, Will, Josie, and Aunt Kate and Uncle Andy Spaulding and will also be missed by his Uncle Doug (Crosby) and cousin Cole. He recently proposed to his girlfriend Aspen Brulez, who was the best thing that happened to him and gave his heart peace and a place to call home. His life was cut short much too soon on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Lam attended Hempfield Area School District, graduated from Waynesboro Area School District, and was proud of his academic achievements during his senior year. He was especially excited to start college this fall at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and was planning to study psychology. Lam was employed by Applegreen Travel Plaza in New Stanton.

Outside of work, Lam had a passion for cooking, especially for others, and enjoyed creating his own recipes which usually included using spices with abandon. He was a natural athlete, trying his hand at karate, swimming, track and field, and flag football. He was involved in Scouting as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout. More recently, he enjoyed researching cars and developed a passion and encyclopedic knowledge of cars and motorcycles. For fun he would play his guitar and a keen musical ear. In his free time, Lam enjoyed online gaming, watching movies, and spending time with Aspen. Through turbulent times, Lam was true to his Vietnamese roots, fiercely strong-willed and tenacious. We are grateful for all the people who touched his and our family’s lives over the years, and we mourn his unrealized potential.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 31st from 3pm to 5pm, followed by a service of remembrance at 5pm, where friends and family will have the opportunity to share a memory. Both will take place at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg, PA 15601.
