Kathryn E. Hoyle

Kathryn “Kay” Hoyle, 91 of Greensburg passed away peacefully, May 28,2025 at Mt. View Memory Care, leaving behind a legacy of determination, strength, and service to her community.

Kay was a go-getter in every sense of the word. With vision and perseverance, she started her own business, The Only Frame Repair, out of her home – a humble beginning that reflected her entrepreneurial spirit and sharp eye for detail. As the business flourished, it eventually became Kay Hoyle Optical, a well-known storefront on Pennsylvania Avenue in downtown Greensburg where she served generations of loyal customers with care and professionalism.

After many successful years at the helm of her own business, Kay brought her talent and dedication to Trice Professional Optical, where she worked until her retirement.

Beyond her professional life, Kay was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ and an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Hose Co. #8. She enjoyed flower gardening at her home and beach vacations with her family. She will be remembered for her feistiness, warmth, and strength for her family, friends and her community. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, both personally and professionally.

She is survived by her two children, Wendy Veshosky (the late Bob) and Rickey Hoyle; six grandchildren, Katelyn Larsen, Kasey Liston (Marina), Kolby Liston, Nathan Hoyle (Nate Hanley), Amber Hensley (Michael), Mallory Hopple (Jeff) and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Hoyle; her son, Scott Hoyle; two brothers, James and Walter Skelly and a sister, Ethel Albright.

Family and friends will be received on Friday from 4 to 8 pm in the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, Inc. 524 N. Main St, Greensburg, where her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. The Ladies Auxiliary of Hose Co #8 will conduct a service at 7:30 pm Friday in the funeral home.
