Kathleen Elaine Giles

Kathleen Elaine Giles (nee Mensch), 81, formerly of Greensburg, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Born on December 3, 1943, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Kathleen was the daughter of Ralph C Mensch and Clara Etta Fox Mensch. She graduated from Hempfield Area Senior High School and went on to study early childhood education at California State College, laying the foundation for a life devoted to nurturing others through both her professional pursuits and personal passions.

Kathleen shared many years of marriage with her beloved husband, Dr. Thomas W. Giles, who preceded her in death. Together they raised two children, Thomas Ross Giles and Elizabeth Giles Rosenthal (Michael Rosenthal) both of Jupiter, Florida. Her family was a source of deep pride and joy throughout her life.

A gifted pianist from an early age, Kathleen’s love for music remained a constant thread throughout her life. Even in her final year at Morse Life Assisted Living, she continued to play piano with grace and enthusiasm. Her happiest moments were spent entertaining fellow residents and basking in their warm applause—a testament to the joy she brought to those around her.

In addition to music, Kathleen found great pleasure in gardening and cherished leisurely Sunday drives through the scenic Laurel Highlands or along the sunlit shores of Florida’s beaches. These simple joys reflected her appreciation for beauty in nature and the peaceful rhythms of life.

Kathleen is also remembered by her extended family: brother-in-law Clayton Giles; sister-in-law Rozella Flock Mensch; niece Rachel Mensch Stoltenburg; and nephew Daniel Mensch. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Daniel Mensch.

May Kathleen's memory bring comfort to all who knew her and continue to inspire those whose lives she touched with kindness, creativity, and warmth. Family and friends will be received from 1 pm until the hour of service at 2 pm on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg. Entombment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery Mausoleum, Greensburg.
