Judith Morrow died peacefully on November 8 at the age of 88. Born in Milwaukee to George and Alice Stewart, she spent her formative years in Pekin IL. Throughout her life, in her professional career, volunteer work, or personal activities, she was driven to care for others and fight for the underdog. She will be remembered for her dedication to any endeavor she pursued, her fierce love of her family, and her positive outlook. She was a friend to all.
Judith was called to medicine at a young age and pursued a career as a Registered Nurse after graduating with a MS in Nursing from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. While working at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria IL, Judith met T.K. Morrow, a handsome and quick-witted doctor on staff. They soon married and moved to Greensburg when T.K. was named Director of Pathology and Laboratory Services at Westmoreland Hospital. Judith thrived in her new community and embraced her life as a busy mother and volunteer.
Judith was actively involved in the Greensburg community. She and T.K. were generous supporters of the Arts and they loved to travel to obscure locations. Judith was a long-standing member and leader of the Women’s Committee and board of the Westmoreland Museum of American Art. She was active at First Presbyterian Church, PEO Chapter AJ, the Westmoreland Medical Society Auxiliary, Greensburg Garden Club, the Tuesday Literary Club, and the Greensburg Planning Commission, among others. Judith was a gracious hostess and ran meetings with efficiency due to her mastery of Robert’s Rules of Order.
Judith was the founding Executive Director of the Greensburg Area Cultural Council, a group near and dear to her heart. The Pittsburgh Area Cultural Trust recognized her many contributions to the Arts in 1990 with the Vita Award, sponsored by WQED Radio. Judith remained an active member of the community after T.K.’s death in 2004.
In addition to her husband T.K., Judith was preceded in death by her parents Alice and George Stewart and brother Charles “Finnie” Stewart. She is survived by her children Jeffrey Morrow (Noriko) of Kumamoto, Japan and Heather Egan (Peter) of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren Elizabeth “Lilly” Egan, Sean Kosuke Morrow (Riho), Anne Mikiko Morrow, and Amane “Arsha” Morrow; and great-grandson Theo. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family is planning a private memorial service. Remembrances may be made to First Presbyterian Church at PO Box 1038, 300 South Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601 or Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St. Greensburg, PA 15601.
The family would like to acknowledge the support of Rev. Dr. Martin and Julie Ankrum, Heather Lawrence and the staff at ANH Forbes Regional Hospital, and the Hospice team at Redstone Highlands. Kepple-Graft Funeral Home is assisting the family.
