Jose Gilberto Hidalgo

Jose Gilberto Hidalgo, 88, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Transitions Healthcare, North Huntington. He was born May 20, 1938, in Jucuapa, El Salvador, a son of the late Jose Santos Hidalgo and Margoth Rivera Hidalgo.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather known lovingly as “Buito”, he is remembered for his hard work and dedication to his family. Jose was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sonia and two brothers, Roger and Roberto.

Jose is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lidia Interiano Hidalgo; his children, Jaime Gilberto Hidalgo (Kim), Ana Cecilia Hidalgo, Silvia Carolina Hidalgo-Chaves (Paul) and Lidia Margarita Hidalgo; 8 grandchildren (Manuel, Alexandra, Adam, Timmy, Aleah, Christian, Daniel and Mathew), and 7 great grandchildren (Hayden, Jace, Payton, Charlie, Emerson, Ellie and Everest).

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation or the Westmoreland Food Bank in his memory.
