Jean Krivoski

November 3, 1931 — November 10, 2018

Marian “Jean” (McClain) Clappie Krivoski, 87, of Greensburg, PA passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 10, 2018.  She was born to Reverend Ernest and Ruth (Horner) McClain on November 3, 1931.  She graduated from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania at the age of 20 and immediately began teaching school.  Jean taught in many schools throughout Pennsylvania, ultimately retiring from Penn-Trafford School District.  She first married, Charles (Chuck) Clappie and enjoyed her role as pastor’s wife.  Jean loyally served the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War as a long-time active member of Ruth F. Barnhart, Tent 56, and the Department of Pennsylvania as President and 29 years as Secretary.  Jean met the love of her life, Mitch, with whom she traveled to all 50 states and a number of countries. She loved playing games, watching her soaps, her Steelers and her Pirates, visiting with family and friends, and serving her church, Zion Lutheran Church.  Jean was a patient listener and had a way of telling the truth a person needed to hear without causing hurt; many sought her advice and comfort.  Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Shirley K. (McClain) Quay, brother Donald A. McClain, brother-in-law, Elmer (Bucky) Foster, and her lovingly devoted husband of 33 years, Mitchell Krivoski.  She is survived by four sisters, Carol Foster, Vada (Harold) Damaska, Alma Kay (Gene) Rockwell and Helen Martindale; sister-in-law Ruth (Maassel) McClain; two stepsons, Duke Krivoski and wife, Ernie, and Dr. James F. Krivoski and wife, Donna; a stepdaughter, Jill Krivoski Bardell and husband Terry; five step grandchildren, Joseph Krivoski, Jamie Weis (Bryan), Jill Krivoski, Gina Shaffer (Dan) and Johnna Mayer (Michael);  5 step great children;  many nieces and nephews, related by blood, marriage and choice by those who needed the caring love and spirited fun of “Aunt Jean” or “Mama Jean”.  Family and friends with be received on Thursday from 10am until the time of service at noon at Zion’s Lutheran Church 140 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg, the Rev. Brian B. Chaffee officiating.  Interment to follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield, Township.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion’s Lutheran Church at the above address.  Kepple-Graft Funeral home in charge of funeral arrangements.
