Gilbert “Gibb” Owens, 89, of Greensburg, PA died on Monday, August 10, 2026, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Son of the late Viora Cyphert, he was born January 21, 1937 in Greensburg. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Cy Cyphert and his brother, Bill Owens. Gibb was a 1955 graduate of Jeannette High School, where he played the tuba in the school band and years later, he served on the class reunion committee.

Gibb was a member of Trinity Community Methodist Church in Greensburg. Prior to retirement, he worked 50 years as salesman for OMNOVA Solutions in Jeannette. Gibb also worked at Cloverleaf Golf Course for another 16 years. He was a member of the Jeannette Jaycees and as a past vice president of Pennsylvania, he received an Award of Honor from the President of the Pennsylvania Jaycees.

He enjoyed traveling to Europe, Australia, and vacationing with his family in Nags Head, NC and Kiawah Island, SC. He was a member of Chip and Putt Golf League for many years and president of the Hempfield Area High School Band Parents. Gibb was an avid fan of West Virginia University football and attended games with his family.

Gibb is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eleanor Craig Owens. Their journey began when they met in first grade at Armbrust School. After leaving Armbrust, they met again in 1955 and were married on June 14, 1958. He is also survived by his daughters, Pamela Miller (Carl) of Denver, NC and Patricia Rowlett (Neil) of Church Hill TN; also, his granddaughter, Kelly Leigh Miller (Alexander Sloves) of Chicago, IL.

Gibb’s goal in life was to see his family happy and successful. His friends said he was a great man and friend.

Family and friends will be received from 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg. A funeral service for Gibb will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Community Methodist Church, 210 W. Fourth Street, Greensburg, PA 15601.
