George E. “Eric” Wampler, 73, of Southwest, Greensburg, died, Sunday, August 16, 2026, at his home. He was born January 18, 1953, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Raymond A. Wampler and Rosemarie Koerner Wampler. Eric graduated from Carrick High School after which he joined the Job Corps, where he learned the painting trade. Prior to retirement, he worked as a painter for the IUPAT District Council 57, Local 6. Eric also loved painting for family and friends. He was a member of Trinity Community Methodist Church, Greensburg.
Eric was a quiet and unassuming man but would never miss an opportunity to help others. His passion was skydiving and he had over 325 jumps which seemed so out of character for those who knew him. He and Flo enjoyed square and round dancing and were members of Footloose and Franklin square dance clubs. They also enjoyed motorcycling trips together
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Wampler and his sister, Rose Mary Enscoe; also, his brother-in-law, William Baum. Eric is survived by his wife, Florence “Flo” Baum Wampler; his daughter, Lena Rose Wampler and partner, Rich Marcozzi; brother, Raymond Wampler (Helen); brother-in-law, Art Baum; sister-in-law, Cindy Yenerall and her husband, Zane and sister-in-law, Michelle Wampler; also, a number of nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service for Eric will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Trinity Community Methodist Church, 210 W. Fourth Street, Greensburg, PA 15601.
