George R. Silvis

George Rense Silvis 92 years old. Born at home in Hunker, PA on January 1, 1934. Beloved spouse for over 60 years to Eileen F. Silvis who preceded him in death. George was a retired Horticulture teacher from Westmoreland Technical School. Prior to teaching, he served as an agriculture county agent in Jefferson and Cumberland counties. Board member of Westmoreland County Fair over 40 years. Member of Greensburg Masonic 518 Lodge, Shriner, Urania Royal Arch Chapter 192 and Tall Cedars. He graduated from Penn State in Agriculture Science in 1956 and completed Penn State Masters Degree in Education in 1968.

He was also preceded in death by son, Gary Silvis; parents, Mary Trout Silvis and Paul Silvis; and sister, Jeaninne Silvis Hughes. Surviving children: Paul H. Silvis, his wife Nancy Silvis; Pamela Baughman; and daughter-in-law, Beverly Silvis; grandchildren: Amy Gravine, Kristin Thelan, Michael Silvis, Andrea Heartgrave, Paul Silvis, Braden Baughman, Neal Baughman, Shanna Logan, and Russell Baughman; step Grandchildren: Melanie Collins and Kurtis Collins; 19 great-grandchildren: Faith Gravine, Claire Gravine, Henry Gravine, Emma Thelen, Alex Thelen, Benjamin Baughman, Rylee Baughman, Luke Logan, Chase Logan, Isabella Baughman, Daniel Baughman, Eleanor Baughman, Nathanial Baughman, Tobias Baughman, Milo Baughman, Owen Hartgraves, Otto Hartgraves, Dillion Hartgraves, and Taylor Silvis.

Family and friends will be received Friday, September 25th from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg.
