Elaine M. Johnston, 90, of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 in Green Meadows Assisted Living, Latrobe. She was born August 13, 1918 in Apollo a daughter of the late Lloyd and Mary Altman McDonald.
Elaine was a retired school teacher having been employed by the Hempfield Area School District. She was a graduate of Indiana State Teacher's College and was a member of Zion's Lutheran Church, Greensburg where she had been active over the years. She was also a member of the Greensburg College Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca A. Perry and husband James of Greensburg; two granddaughters, Karen Markle and husband Todd and Jamie Perry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald E. Johnston; a grandson DJ Perry and two brothers Lyle and Dean McDonald.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 3 to 7 pm in the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 N. Main St. Greensburg where services will be held Monday at 11:30 am with Rev. Robert Hawk officiating. Entombment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Memorials may be made to the Zion's Lutheran Church 140 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Greensburg, PA 15601. Terence L.
