Edward 'Ed' M. Sarver, Jr., 88, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Friday, September 9, 2022. He was the son of the late Edward M. Sarver, Sr. and Mary Weimer Sarver Hilty. Ed will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather. great-grandfather. and friend. He may no longer be with us, but the ways in which he touched out hearts will forever bring us comfort. Ed served our country in the United States Air Force. He retired after 23 years of service. He, then, retired from PPG-Greensburg after 16 years. While in the Air Force, he enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball, in which, as a pitcher, he recorded several no-hitters. We enjoyed seeing the articles in the newspaper about his accomplishments. He also served in the Vietnam war. Every base he was stationed at, he was a member of the Rod and Gun Clubs. He was an excellent marksman; who won several competitions involving trap, skeet and target shooting. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting with his friends and family and his time spent at hunting camps. After retiring from the Air Force, he enjoyed living on his family's dairy farm, which was passed down from his father. He enjoyed riding his John Deere Gator, growing gardens, mowing the fields and shooting groundhogs. He enjoyed target shooting with many friends, some of who were policeman, to sharpen their shooting skills. He enjoyed music and square dancing at the Alwine Civic Center with his special companion, Betty Kemerer. He enjoyed family get-togethers and holidays. Ed was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gayle A. Graber Sarver, in 2012. They were married for 58 wonderful years! He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey. He is survived by his two children, Cyndie Sarver Boyle (Keith) and Keith Edward Sarver (Cindy Gurzi); grandchildren, Bryan Boyle (Kristin Ritenour), Becky Boyle Kontir (Greg), Jordon, Kortney, Krysta, Nicki Bair (Phil), CJ Ohodnicki (Kayla), Chelsea Ohodnicki (Robert Keller); great-grandchildren, Luke and Leon Kontir, Madelyn, Sawyer, Blake, Wyatt, Hazel; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many friends, especially, John Griffin. Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery of Denmark Manor, Export.
