Dale Preston

Dale Robert Preston, 66, of Greensburg, died on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.  He was born May 25,1950, in Miami, Florida, a son of the late Robert and Gertrude (Stauffer) Preston.  Dale was a member of Harrold Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greensburg and was employed by Raimondo Inc.  He was a lifetime member of the Fort Allen Volunteer Fire Dept. and President of the Hempfield Twp. Fire Police.  Dale was a lifetime member of the Youngwood Sportsmen’s Association and a veteran of the Navy.  He loved fishing and boating, especially on Lake Erie.  Besides his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a special aunt and uncle, H. Walter and Lois (Luehm) Preston, who raised him starting at the age of 14.  He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Karen (Plischke) Preston; 2 sons, Robert Walter Preston (Kristan), of Youngwood, and David Charles Preston (Michelle), of Latrobe; and loved being Pappy Dale to his precious granddaughter Avery Diana Preston.  Dale is also survived by sisters- and brothers-in-law, Terrence (Barbara) Plischke of Greensburg, Charlene (Arnie) Wudrick of Saskatoon, Canada, and Lauren (Tom) Davis of Derry; 1 uncle, Laurence Plischke; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 3-7 pm at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg.  Additional viewing will be held on Saturday from 10-11 am at Harrold Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, where Dale’s funeral service will be held at 11 am.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military rites accorded by members of Greensburg VFW Post 33.  Members of Fort Allen Volunteer Fire Department will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 6 pm for a service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harrold Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 671 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Greensburg, PA 15601 or the Hempfield Twp.
