Carla Murray

Carla Kathryn Murray, 81, of Greensburg, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Oct. 28, 1936, in Remsen, Iowa, a daughter of the late John and Armella (Freymann) Reisch. Carla was a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing, class of 1957. She moved to Moscow with her young family when her husband was stationed there as assistant air attache. After returning to the Washington, D.C. area, she worked as a nurse in various settings. She later opened a Stretch and Sew fabric store, which benefited greatly from her unlimited creative energy. She was a gardener and feared no home project but it was family gatherings and celebrations that brought her the greatest joy. She survived two major strokes and, despite the challenges that followed, she was strengthened by a deep love of family. She was our center, a source of inspiration and love and will be sorely missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Patrick Murray; an infant son, Francis; and a sister, Paula Miller. Surviving are her daughters, Kathryn Cullo (Leonard) and Siobhan Murray; sons, Michael Murray (Vi) and Brendan Murray; seven grandchildren, Francis, Nicholas, Sarah, Emma, Jack, Nathan and Joseph; a brother, John C. Reisch (Jean); sisters, Marian Zenkovich and Karen Hoss (Darrell); cousin, Nicholas Freymann; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, where prayers of transfer will be said at 9 a.m. Wednesday, followed by her funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, 300 N. Main St., Greensburg.
