Carl F. Ringler

August 31, 1927 — April 9, 2024

Carl Ringler, 96, passed onto life in Heaven on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. He was born August 31, 1927, in Jones Mills, PA. He married the love of his life, Charleen Ringler, his wife of 70 years, who preceded him in death in 2018.  The two loved to travel the world and to spend time at Indian Lake, golfing and water skiing. They taught the grandkids and some of the great-grandkids how to water ski and to perform various ski tricks, including how to pyramid. They loved to entertain and were often the life of the party. Always active, he enjoyed flying his plane, boating, tinkering in his woodworking shop, or whatever project that could keep him busy. Carl exemplified his lifelong motto “Make it happen”. In business, he was a successful landlord, once owning dozens of apartment units throughout Greensburg. An entrepreneur, he started and sold a successful candy business, Char-Val and a painting and restoration business, Ringler Decorating, both of which are still operating today. He dutifully poured his energy in the Greensburg Rotary Club with 25 years of perfect attendance, Indian Lake Golf Club, and First United Methodist Church in Greensburg.  When asked how he’d like to be remembered, he said he wants to be known for liking people and loving the Lord. He enjoyed getting to know all types of people. He was an extremely patient teacher. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Valetta; and his only son, Rick. Charleen and Carl lost their only son, Rick (29) to a brain aneurysm, but cherished the love and care poured out to them by their daughter-in-law, Betsy. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Betsy (Nash) Ringler (Stan) Hunt; granddaughters, Sarah Ringler (Jonathan) Cooper and Mary Ringler (Steve) Wilmert; grandson, Tim (Heather) Hunt; and great-grandchildren, Rachel, Hunter, Melanie and Isaac Cooper, Gabe, Samuel, Claire and Emma Wilmert and Ethan, Elena, and Everett Hunt; also brother-in-law, Thomas Dix, nephew, Dale Dix, and nieces, Nancy Green and Joanne Sleesman. Family and friends will be received from 9:30-11:30am Saturday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. Services will be held at 11:30am Saturday in the funeral home with Steve Wilmert officiating. For online condolences and information, please visit www.kepplegraft.com.
