Betty Mika

Betty Jean Mika, 92, of Salem Township, died on Friday, January 11, 2019 in Hempfield Manor.  She was born in Indiana County on October 14, 1926, a daughter of the late George W. Pfeil and Alma Lang Pfeil.  Prior to retirement, she was employed by Sterling Box Company, Jeannette.  Betty loved canning vegetables, gardening and crocheting.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank “Turk” Mika.  She is survived by her children, Debbie (Hayes) Iscrupe, Daria (Hayes) Durst and her husband John, A. Melvin Hayes and Thomas G. Mika; her 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  Family and friends will be received on Monday from 6-8 pm at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg.  Betty’s funeral service will be at 10 AM on Tuesday in the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Westmoreland County, P.O.
