Barbara A. DelVecchio Schlirf, 88, of Jeannette (Hempfield Township) died Friday, October 6, 2017 at Redstone Highlands.  “Barbie” was a wonderful blend of strength, grace and kindness. She enjoyed spending countless hours tending her beautiful gardens.  She was retired from the Elliott Company where she had been employed for over 30 years as an executive secretary.  Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Perry A. and Florence (Walthour) DelVecchio; her husband John (Jack) Schlirf; brother Jon DelVecchio, sister Joan Silvis, and nephew Timothy Silvis.  She is survived by her brother Perry A. DelVecchio, Jr., brother-in-law, William H. Silvis, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Barb shared a very special relationship with the Silvis children, Toni Kerila, Tina Peter (Eric), Teri Moidel (Gary) Tami Herrington (Brad), and Todd Silvis.  The family wants to especially thank Greensburg Landscaping, Mark Riddle, and Shirley Eakin for their endless support and friendship through the years. The family would like to offer a special note of thanks to Jan Shuster for her care and kindness this past year.  Memorial contributions may be made to The First Reformed United Church of Christ, 312 South Maple Avenue, Greensburg, PA 15601 or Redstone Highlands, 6 Garden Center Drive, Greensburg, PA.  Barbara’s funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 AM in the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home 524 N.
