James Richard Ratner

James Richard Ratner, 76, died on March 3, 2017, formerly of Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Beloved husband of Carol Lippard Ratner; loving father of Lisa J. Ratner of Washington, DC and Brian A. Ratner (Jamie Peyser) of Potomac, MD; and adoring grandfather of Noah and Lila Ratner. He was the son of the late Alfred W. and Gertrude "Tootsie" Ratner, and brother of the late Jane Ratner Werrin. Jim was a graduate and loyal alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh. Jim and his family were former owners of Greensburg Motor Company and Jim Ratner Oldsmobile. He proudly spent his whole career in the automobile business, working for many years with the Smail Family of Dealerships. His father and grandfather were founding members of Congregation Emanu-El Israel in Greensburg, where he previously served on the Board of Trustees.
 
Visitation will be from 10-11 AM followed by a memorial service at 11 AM to be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Congregation Emanu-El Israel, 222 N. Main Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, with a graveside service to follow at 1230 Middletown Rd., Greensburg, PA 15601.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Jim's memory by mail to the Alfred W. Ratner Library Fund, Congregation Emanu-El Israel, 222 N. Main Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, or to the UPMC CancerCenter, UPCI/UPMC, CancerCenter Development, UPMC Cancer Pavilion, Suite 1B, 5150 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232.
