Charleen Sleesman Ringler, 88, on April 8, passed on to life in heaven with Jesus after a long illness at home in Greensburg. Born August 22, 1929, she grew up in Turtlecreek, PA and found friends from that area everywhere she traveled. Charleen was the daughter of Mildred and Bruce Sleesman. Family was the most important thing to her, and she always said, ‘First things first.’ She is survived by Carl, her husband of 70 years. She and Carl, loved to travel the world and to spend time at Indian Lake, golfing and water skiing and skiing in shows. They taught the grandkids and some of the great grand kids how to water ski and to perform various ski tricks including how to pyramid. Charleen and Carl loved to dance and to entertain others and were often the life of the party. She volunteered for the Ladies Auxiliary at Westmoreland Hospital and was the bookkeeper for their business, Ringler Decorating. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist church in Greensburg where she enjoyed volunteering as a Sunday school teacher, for the bazaars, in the kitchen and for the annual Creche show. She was predeceased by her parents, her older brother Bob, her sister in law, Valetta, and her only son, Rick. In addition to Carl, she is survived by her daugther in law, Betsy (Nash) Ringler (Stan) Hunt, granddaughters Sarah Ringler (Jonathan) Cooper and Mary Ringler (Steve) Wilmert, and grandson Tim (Heather) Hunt, and great grandchildren Rachel, Hunter, Melanie, and Isaac Cooper, Gabe, Samuel, Claire, and Emma Wilmert and Ethan Hunt as well as two nieces, Joan Sleesman (Jim) Campbell and Nancy Dix (Robert) Green and their families and two nephews, John Sleesman and Dale Dix, and brother in law, Thomas Dix, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Friday from 9:30-11:30am at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg.
Services will be held on Friday in the funeral home at 11:30am with Steve Wilmert officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church 15 E. Second Street, Greensburg, PA 15601.
